Driving Trail

The driving trail around Lake Chapala was developed by Amigos del Lago with the help of the Living Lakes /Daimler Chrysler Nature Camp in August 2004. Click on the names of the towns below for more information.

1. Briseñas

Visitor sign located on west side of carretera in grassy area, immediately south of the bridge

  • Beautifully restored Ex-Hacienda

2. Jamay

Visitor sign located on south side of carretera in grassy area, at first street that enters the town.

  • Inspiring religious monuments

  • Carved furniture, candles, textiles, copperware, piñatas

3. Ocotlán

Visitor sign located in grassy area at entrance to street to 
"City Central".

  • Oldest chapel in Jalisco, obelisk, museum, train station

4. Poncitlán

Visitor sign located on north side of carretera in grassy area next to masonry welcome sign and statue of mother and children.

5. Mezcala

Visitor sign located on south side of carretera at scenic lookout, approximately 5 kms before entrance to town.
